The purpose of fire insurance is to guarantee the owners against damage to buildings, equipment, machinery and stocks of raw materials and fine products by a fire originating in the premises of the enterprise or which propagated from a neighboring building.
Incidents of explosion may be followed by a fire in which case the damage is covered by the fire. But it is not uncommon for an explosion to cause significant damage without being followed by a fire.
The damage covered by the explosion guarantee is the consequence of any sudden and violent action of the pressure or the depression of gases or vapors, whether those existed before this action or that their formation was concomitant to it.
The Explosions warranty covers, among other things, explosions resulting from gases as well as those caused by various types of dust such as plastic dust, coal or grain silos as well as explosions in steam devices. Concerning this last type of explosions, a distinction must be made between the water shots and the fire shots.
The water stroke is a phenomenon that can occur when, as a result of cooling, the steam condenses inside the boiler, and the water thus formed pushed back by the periston causes the boiler to burst because of the incompressibility of water. The shot is usually covered by the fire insurance contract under the so-called "All Explosions" warranty.
The fire shot is the consequence of an excess of heat due to an absence or insufficiency of the circulation of the cooling water inside the boiler. The fire shot is not covered by the warranty
Fire Warranty is usually attached with the following additional coverage items:
- explosions
- vehicle impacts, plane crash
- water damage
- fall of the snow on the roofs
- theft
- broken glass
- storms, hurricanes. cyclones
- lightning fall
- hail
